If the display adapter has failed, there are two possibilities. One is to
replace a separate display card attached to the motherboard inside the chassis.
The other is to replace the entire motherboard, if it has the display subsystem
integrated onto it. I am not familiar with this model, so I am unsure of what
the computer has inside.

According to the HP web site, the video subsystem in the computer has the NVIDIA
GeForce Go 7200 graphics chip, so there is some possibility that the computer
has a separate display card. For nearly all notebook computers, a separate
display card is very much proprietary to the model of computer... Ben Myers

Sadly I have little experience with laptops, so i'd have to refer you
back to Ben's response - although if you try removing the covers from
the bottom of the laptop, it might be something as simple as the
graphics card needs re-seating if it is a seperate card - otherwise
it's likely to be expensive :-/
