HP Pavilion DV9880 fan noise

To my surprise my new Pavilion DV9880 CPU started being quite noisy after
two weeks. It came with BIOS version F52 and I replaced it with the latest
version F53 without any improvement. The noise is not that loud as at
startup, but noisy enough to become irritating after a while. Anyone
familiar with this type of laptop and possible cures for the fan noise?
