HP 6P printer

my printer was working perfectly fine. I have a desktop and laptop.
The laptop is not networked to the desktop (win 98). I have a program
on the laptop XP. I switched the printer cable to the laptop and
nothing printed. In frustration I put it back. Now I can't even
print from the desktop. The document leaves the desktop and goes to
the printer but nothing prints. Only the bottom green light is on and
I can't remember is the middle light should also be on. At any rate,
I need help. Thank you.
