Copier wont

My Officejet 5610 will not copy although it will print from my computer.
With an original properly aligned on the window, the On-light lit, I press
the Black button to start and I get a window asking "Number of copies" 1.
Pressing the start Black button again gives nothing. The printer hangs
until I "Cancel". I am current in drivers and updates and am at a loss as
to how to proceed. One other thing, when I reboot my computer I get a
window saying "Scanner failure" "Cycle power and try again" I shut off the
unit and try again and still get the window and the copying still does not
work. Help
