Apart from the fact that a lot of routers don't give you warnings about
outgoing traffic, therefore you could have a trojan making outgoing
communications and not know its doing so. Which is why I run a software
firewall as well as a NAT router.

I would uninstall ZA and enable the Windows firewall. This works well
other than the fact outbound traffic will likely not be monitored using
Windows XP.

Yea, and the trojan may well have been programmed smart enopugh to bypass
any software firewall so you still won't know. Best thing is to monitor the
ports so you can actually see what is doing what. I use both Windows
software and router firewall but don't fully trust either to keep me safe.

No it isn't. It's only real use is to protect computers on an internal
network. Outbound protection is almost useless because a malware can hide
itself from outbound protection.
