D-Link wireless adapter died. Bought a Belkin G to replace it. In a tough
spot, signal drops frequently. NewEgg has a D-Link Rangebooster N (DWA
142) on sale. OK!! Now I've got signal locked tight.
First hint of trouble ties up CPU, frequent spikes and stuttering of
jukebox. Also won't share any USB ports. Jump drives and other things set
it to BSOD, or simply not recognized.
Put a 4 port card in a PCI slot. Still ties up all resources, old and new.
Uniinstsalled it, now Windows wants to be reactivaed. SHEEET!!!! Get that
done, unistall it, put the Belkin back in, all USB slots still useless.
What's next, short of a 8# sledge?
All I'd like is for the USB slots to work again when the network adapter is
on. Even disabling it no longer brings the ports up.

The USB "Cleanup In Safe Mode" procedure is described here. This
will allow the OS to enumerate the USB resources again.

Thanks Paul!
Think I forgot to thank you last week when I asked about the hockey puck
at it's first sign of trouble. I did update the driver, but it still was
a resource hog, so would just disable it when I wanted music. Then
this. Ugh!!!
This looks like what I wanted to do, but would have never thought to use
safe mode.
Maybe I'll do it tomorrow after the parade so I can have have fireworks
twice on the same day. LOL!!!
