What you have sounds like it will play most if not all of the games
available today.........it your worried about tommorow upgrade the Video
Card when prices come down on the 8800...

Yuh thanks, I was just wondering if that would be a good gamming
system, and if i had everything together right like the right kind of
power supply motherboard etc. and i was thinking going to the 8800 or
to the XFX512mb795ogtxt, thanks a lot for the help peter. I am just
building a new computer, and them are all the parts i have in mind,
just wondering if them were good before i ordered all of them, i
choose a bad choice of words in describing my question before, but you
answered most of it, i was just wondering on all the parts, and i was
also wondering if anyone had expererince with any of these parts.

Don't buy an Ultra PSU! Do not have a good name. Will probably run that
system, but will struggle if you upgrade video card later.

Might consider another case, those 5x80mm fans will drive anyone crazy.
Two 120mm are ideal and will avoid a symphony of whirling fan blades.

I would go with Windows XP, and you don't need more than two or 3 GB
to start with, 2 GB would be okay with at least one memory slot open.
Also, you don't need a "kit". The same memory modules will do.

I would go with 10,000 rpm Raptor(s). I am a gamer running on a 37 GB
Raptor with 2 GB of RAM.

If you have any problems with spontaneous restarts or you suspect
house current is not up to par, buy a voltage regulator (line
conditioner). Works wonders here. An uninterruptible power supply is
okay, but not as reliable. Most gamers (who know enough to keep copies
of any important files from the hard drive) probably don't need
battery backup. Just depends on your personal needs. Either will help
cope with power supply issues.

This may be controversial, but the Intel Core2 Duo CPUs seem to the
preferred ones for gaming systems at the moment. (I'm not an Intel fan. My
current CPU is an E6600, but the previous one was a Socket 939 Athlon X2
4400+.) That's especially true if you're willing to overclock. The E6600 is
available now for a little over $200, so it's not expensive.
If you go with a C2D, consider a mainboard based on the new Intel P35
chipset. It gives a small increase in memory performance over the older
chipsets.
For the graphics card, an 8800GTS is probably a better choice than a 7950GT.
(It costs more, though.) Get an 8600 if you want a DX10 card but can't
spring for an 8800.
Don't bother with 4 GB of RAM if you'll be running a 32 bit OS (regular XP,
or Vista 32). You won't get the full benefit of much more than approx. 3 GB.
If you get a Seagate HD, go for a 7200.10. That series uses perpendicular
recording technology (higher density). I doubt that it gives a life-altering
performance boost over the older drives, but the price differential is
small.
If you're careful, you can avoid buyer's remorse for getting too much
old-tech stuff without spending too much extra cash.

The reason I used the 4gb 2gb kit, is so that i wont waste money when
i want to upgrade, and the motherboard has plenty of room to upgrade
on better athlon AM2 sockets, and the reason i didnt go all out with a
video card for DX10 is because theres no reason for a DX10 there isnt
any DX10 things that im going to really be running, the highest think
i will be running is be the Flight Simulator X with some Vanguard Saga
of Heros, and some WoW. and by the time any games im gonna be playing
that support DX10 and as a requirment, they will be a lot cheaper...
Am i thinking right?? And the reason my Hard Drive is a 7200RPM, is
because my motherboard only supports that kind... And on my power
supply i had a correction to make it was a Ultra, which i was told was
not a good name... Any1 got any suggestions on a better??
and the Windmill reason is for fan control on what i was thinking, of
the 5 case fans, not fully needing to be annoying me all the time...
ill relock for a APX motherboard supporter, So i guess i dont need a
CPU cooler, that a good thing, and the Abit have a chipset cooler
built in and i will also look for a case with Harddrive fans and maybe
also something by the Motherboard... and also if anyone has some good
Motherboard suggestions, that would be nice, becuase i can always
sneek around memory, and the other reason on my memory for this board
is that i cant have only 1 DIMM at a time, there has to be a pair of
memory, and like i said, if anyone has suggestions on motherboards,
ETC. also im looking at about a $999 ish budget, is the reason i didnt
put 1k is becuase im really not trying to dig into the 1k area. thanks

Windows XP handles up to 3 GB, that's more than enough for gaming now.
If you're planning to use Windows Vista, your system will be slower.
I don't know of any current games that require more than 2 GB of RAM.
You could go with a 2 GB module and add another one later. Kits are
not necessary.

The 7950GT doesn't support DirectX 10. The computer games I play
don't require it. Whatever. I think you are skimping on the video
card.
My system is about right for Supreme Commander on small two
versus two maps.

I'm sure it does. As far as I know, almost all modern mainboards you
are looking for support a 10,000 RPM Raptor. It's a gamer's hard
drive.
