Default Hp Vectra VL400 Heatsink question

Hi all

Im running a 1000MHz cpu in a HP Vectra VL400 desktop pc the thing is it
dosnt have a fan on the heatsink as it never had one, it came with an 866MHz
cpu I put in the 1000MHZ cup I need to know if it is ok for the 1000MHz cpu
to run without a fan. I would like to test it by running a program that will
give it a good hard run to see if the heatsink by its self is ok but what
progie can do that?
Actualy the only fan it gets is from a plastic cover from the power supply
to the side of the cpu if that dose anything!!

Thanks all
GK

The pictures here, show a "ducted" cooling system. The air moving
through the PSU, appears to also be harnessed to keep the CPU cool.
That is what the picture suggest here.

Prime95 from mersenne.org, is one tool that will make a CPU get
hot. You use the "torture test" option of Prime95, rather than
joining GIMPs. There are some other programs that specialize
in heating a CPU, but at least for some of them, the originating
web site is gone. At one time, on my older computers, I might
have used CPUBurn.
