I am coming round to buying a Gigabyte board rather than my initial choice
Intel.
The P35 chipset looks about right for my business, sound and and graphics
needs. Don't game and don't intend to overclock.
The computer needs to be
- quiet as possible
- stable and reliable
- PS2 keyboard
- USB2 - min 6 external sockets
- e-SATA would be nice
- onboard network, sound and video
- supports DDR2 800
- Supports CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8200
Price not a problem.
The problem is I cannot find a selector on any website which allows me to
enter these requirements (especially the onboard video) and then shows
boards which match - not even on Gigabytes site. All the board
manufacturers make far too many boards to be able to trawl through the
details.

It sounds very much like you could use the help of Kustom Komputa. http://www.kustomkomputa.co.uk
Kustom Komputa will liase with you to design a computer to your requirements
and, once given the go-ahead and funds, will build, test, and deliver it to
you. Why not check out the website and get a free quotation for a unique
computer? You've nothing to lose, so have a think, browse the site, fill in
the Quotation Request form, and take it from there.

Advertising is not only unwelcome but against charter in
uk.comp.homebuilt. At the very least remove uk.c.h from the
newsgroups, at best just don't do it.

That would be fine, as it would be a genuine recommendation from which the
person recommending would not profit.

Can you not tell the difference between personal recommendations and
corporate advertising? If not, then I certainly wouldn't trust you to
build me a computer.
We don't mind your .sig; we don't mind you being part of the group. We
draw the line at blatant self-aggrandisement. It is forbidden by the
group charter, and you've flown too close to the wind on this a few
times now - but the post above was way over the limit.

My apologies. The purpose of the post was to help out the OP: It just
happened that my website was the place I thought best to get said help. You
will notice that in other instances I've recommended and linked to many
other sites that have nothing to do with me but where I feel the OP can get
the best help qavailable to them within the limits of my knowledge. However
if recommending my own site once in a while upsets you so much I'll not do
it in future.

Thank you. It doesn't upset me, it caused barely a disappointed sigh.
It does, however, **** newsgroups up totally if allowed to happen.

In this particular case the OP asked for someone to recommend a supplier
of a particular service, and that is what you did. I haven't noticed you
pushing Kustomcomputa excessively so I don't think there's any risk of
the newsgroups being swamped by advertising. I recall that you have been
a very helpful member of the group.
I don't think you should take this complaint seriously. You can't expect
to post to usenet without getting flamed occasionally.
