I recently installed a DVD burner in my WIN98 PC. I thought I'd use Nero 5
that came with my CD-RW burner. Well it didn't work. Nero wouldn't recognize
the drive. Then I decided to look at the install CD. It said "This software
will only work with the CD-writer it came bundled with". My mistake.
Well I figured I was SOL but I thought I remembered hearing about free
burning software somewhere so I did a search for "CD burn freeware". I got
plenty of hits, too many in fact. After a while I found DeepBurner. It
claimed to support practically every burner made, with plenty of features
and easy to use. It is easy to use, it does have the features I need and it
supports my Sony 18x DVD/CD/RW burner and it is true freeware (not
trialware, nagware or missing features).
I also need to burn music CD's to listen to in my wife's truck. I tried
DeepRipper from the same company. It allows me to digitally rip audio tracks
from my music CD's and save them to my HD so I can use DeepBurner to burn my
own music CD's. Incidentally I only use re-writable media and only from
Verbatim. I'm very satisfied with both these programs. I may even buy the
pro version of DeepBurner. Not that I need it but it has DVD authoring
capability. I'll be using these programs with all my burners from now on.
Did I mention they both support 95/98/2000/NT/ME/XP and probably Vista too?
I sound like a commercial. Here: http://www.deepburner.com Go get it.
