Default external hard drive problems

I have a dell laptop, i use a diskgo hard rive to store pics and music
on. A few days go my laptop will not show that the hard drive is plug
n. I did a restore and it didnt help. I re booted xp and it didnt
help. please help

Does the external drive make noise when it is plugged in? Did you try
it on another computer before hacking around with software? If you
used the thing a lot and there is no fan in the case with the drive,
it likely suffered from overheating.

yes the fan comes on. it works if i plug it in my desk top.

Then the problem is with the laptop. Have you tried any other USB
devices on the laptop?
