Default Errors!

hi there,
I have a few errors that are popping up in my os. I have 80gb hdd, WIn
XP, Intel 2.4 with HT and 256 mb ram.

# When i go to print any documents(i have a HP printer), and i go to
select the printer, there are more than one options present there...
all this despite i have only one printer. (m not including m ms image
doc writer) i'm seeing the options like
Canon XXXX 1
Canon XXXX 2
Canon XXXX 3 ....
i had spooled my printer a couple of times (when the printing job was
stuck and i was not able to delete it) is this the results of
spooling? if yes how do i remove it such that the working on is not
deleted.

# when the os has been booted. before i m logging into my account.
Since have have 4 users on my the os. under my icon for logging in i
see the message (2 unread messages...)
i havent installed outlook/express for my usr account, but still this
message is coming. How do i remove this message? dont even have ms
messenger installed.

i'll post the exact detail of the third and final problem soon.

thanks in advance.

You have an HP printer and nothing by Canon? If so, go to control panel,
printers, and right-click and remove all the canon stuff. If you've got
stuff spooled to the non-existent canon printer, I'm afraid that is gone
forever.

If you haven't installed outlook express for your own user account, that
probably translates to the OS as "no shortcut" in the start menu. I'd be
surprised if your unread messages aren't in outlook express, though. Do a
start, run, msimn, see if you have messages sitting there like "welcome to
outlook express" and stupid **** like that. -Dave

Before you tear your hair out, be aware that windows will often install a
printer BEFORE you install the driver for it. When you install the driver
for the printer, the driver will add a printer to the control panel, but not
delete the current printer. I'm afraid there isn't much you can do about
that. If you delete both printers, one will be re-installed by windows and
you'll have to re-install the other one, too. Only workaround is to set one
as default printer and just ignore the other one. Kind of a pain when you
have two or more physical printers hooked up, though. -Dave
