DVD writer plays CD Sound, but not DVD Sound - Sony DRU 190A OEM
I installed a Sony DRU 190A OEM DVD burner. I can see video from DVD
movies and hear audio from CDs, but I can't hear the audio from DVD
movies. In my audio properties, I checked "enable digital sound from
this device". I am using a soundblaster card and I think my DirectX is
up to date. I am using NERO which came with it and it updated the
DirectX for me when I installed.
Any suggestions for getting the movie sound to work?

What are you using to play the movie(s) with? Media player, WINDVD, POWERDVD?
Are we talking about a home movies was authored from whatever or copied, a store bought DVD?
Did you have another DVD player JUST prior to the Sony that played worked.
Basically we need more information from you. But, it sounds like you might be missing
the audio codec for the movie or possibly the audio is 5.1 and your sound card isn't

Thanks. Your post gave me some insight as to what may be wrong. I was
using Nero 7 to watch the DVD's. I downloaded VLC media player and now
my movies work. I am using Win2K so I had to find something compatible.
