So what's the best 22" wide monitor you can get?

The UltraSharp 2208WFP gets mixed reviews on Dell... colors washed
out, the panel is not the best they made (supposedly inferior to
2207wfp)

What's the best you can get from LG or Samsung?

Possible to go above 1060 resolution?

Oh, and the little 17" widescreen over to the side? That's my "TV"
(although also a monitor driven by the same system)

I'm debating a fourth monitor, another 17" on the left-hand side for
email and IM so that I don't lose screen space when I'm working, plus it
would be even geekier.

I spend 6-16 hours a day at this desk though, so the investment is
fairly trivial vs the amount of time I actually use it.

Cool!

Do you work for a living from home using that system?

Reason I ask is a spend a LOT of time sitting as well.

I've SERIOUSLY considered a stand up desk type
arrangement for next computer desk. ideally it would be
something I could adjust to stand up height (42")......
and also adjust to sit down height (28" or so)

I just think having the ability to stand up and work on
computer.... or use bar stool if wanting to sit...
would be healthier

Yup.

I've looked at the stand-up solutions, spent a couple days using one at
a previous employer, they aren't for me.

That being said, I invested perhaps too much money in a chair a few
months back, it felt great in the store and for the first couple hours,
but after that it's not quite what I'd like.

At first, I thought it's too big. But it's not as huge as I initially
thought.

Browsing cannot take advantage of the entire screen, it's too wide for
many web pages.

However, many pages can really benefit from 24" wide such as mapquest,
etc.

Garmin Topo is another software that takes advantage of 'wide' really
well.

If you run Linux, you can really use all the multiple open windows,
lots of 'real estate'
for development.
