Default Crooked OCZ Tech rebates validation

I've seen dissatisfaction with some companies on the newsgroups
& have just encountered my being ripped off by OCZ Technologies
regarding their "rebates" for purchased ram.

OCZ claimed I didn't send in a photocopy of the receipt even tho
the box UPC code was stapled to the receipt; I even placed scotch tape
over the staple & along 2 edges of the UPC onto the receipt.

Called OCZ & they only state over & over that they "didn't receive the
receipt". Perhaps that is the problem as it was the "original" receipt
& rebate form combo from Fry's & not a "photo-copy" The receipt
did specifically state that it was a rebate receipt........

Well, I sending in a scanned copy of the receipt & will file fraud charges
if no action on my $25 rebate......yeah, I shouldn't bother with rebates
& never again nor will I get memory ram from the crooks at OCZ.

Just a warning about OCZ policies.

vent off......

Good idea. You only get one shot since you have to remove the UPC
code. They explicitly state that they are not responsible for
anything lost in the mail or mishandled. It's a fool's agreement,
probably mainly intended to prevent returns.

Do you keep removable media copies of important files
from your hard drive?

So how did they explain the staple and tape on the UPC that wasn't
attached to anything?

FatWallet.com has a Rebate Tracking forum with lots of information
about rebates, including which processing companies are good and bad.

I stopped buying anything from Fry's that requires a rebate that is
not instant. I had more problems getting any rebate from an item
purchased at Fry's than any other place. In fact now I have stopped
playing the rebate game all together. If the item price includes a mail
in rebate I skip that item and go to the next item. Rebates are a scam.

They didn't bother as the reply was like a stuck needle on the
phono player "didn't receive the receipt"...

I've been "lucky" with rebates from Fry's; it's just that I find that nothing
is done until after the end-date usuallly. Did the system update from
my old athlon 7 to modernized core2dual this aug & was happey to
have rebates as something "extra" as was't expecting rebates on the
various hardware & bought.

Did have a "problem" a couple years ago but believe that it got short-cutted
by the post office as the 2 rebates were sent probably to the old address
& not forwarded by the post office as they were notified 3 times in as
many ways.......unless the postcard type check was used by someone else....

Don't blame OCZ. Recently purchased a 2G kit PC2-6400 DDR2 SLI-Ready, and
happily received the $40 rebate.

Purchase was from either NewEgg or ZipZoomFly, don't recall which.

I recently purchased two OCZ power supplies. I sent in the rebate forms.
Within a week both were acknowledged and I was told that I would receive my
rebates in 4-8 weeks. Whatever you did, you did it wrong.

I also received acknowledgement & that I would receive the rebate in
4-8 weeks....BUT after about 3 weeks got postcard claiming they didn't
get a copy of the receipt & to send a copy along with the postcard to
OCZ.

What I did wrong was to staple & scotch-taped the UPC onto the
recepit; somehow they "lost" the receipt but was able to post the
fact that they got the UPC......!!!???

I thought both stapling the UPC & use scotch-tape on a receipt for
rebates would insure that neither would/could be "lost". OCZ showed
me differently....
