Default CPU speed help

Hi all

I have a CPU its an AMD Athlon "A1333AMS3C" the specs are at:

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K7/AMD...1333AMS3C.html

From other info I have read I get the picture that it should be running at
1.3GHz but win xp and the boot up is saying only 1GHz even with the CPU core
adjustment in the bios at minium ie 100 - no overclocking, is it ment to run
at 1.3 or 1? I have the sdram going at 266MHz.

Thanks all
GK

Change the FSB to 133MHz. The multiplier is 10x.

Hello Dave Im using a Shuttle AK31V20 mobo for this CPU and the mobo is
jumperless and the bios has an option for the ram to be set as (set by clk)
or (set by spd), if I set it to -set by spd- I get it running at 266MHz at
boot up and 200MHz with -set by clk- I tried setting the "CPU Ratio Select"
to 10x but that set it to1000GHz just like the "default" setting so I
changed the CPU Ratio Select to 13.0x and it is now running at 1.3GHz but
even though it seems to be ok is that safe and propper at the "setting of"
13.0x?

Thanks
GK

It's meant to run at 1333 mhz! When you have it set to 266 by using
"set by spd" (Speed?-Presence- Detect), it really is providing the cpu with
fsb speed of half the 266, or 133 mhz. Your mult. of 10, when multiplied by
fsb of 133, gives real speed of 1333MHz-- or 1.33 ghz, which corresponds to
the cpu's spec's from the link you provided. Remember: **FSB X MULT =
MHZ**, or cpu speed. And if you have the proper mobo for the cpu, it should
be providing 133 fsb WITHOUT its being overclocked. Even if 133 is obtained
via mobo only in an o'clocked environment and you use mult set to 10, as
long as temps are ok, your cpu is designed to run there; hence no danger to
system. HTH, s

The "Frequency Control" entry can be seen on PDF page 48. The actual options
are pictured on PDF page 75. The "CPU Clock" is what you set to 133Mhz.
That number, times the 10x multiplier, should give 1333MHz core. Setting
the RAM properly is a separate issue, and you can choose "By SPD" to start.

Thanks all I set the CPU core to 133 and the multi to 10x and it is working
at 1.34GHz.
