Default CPU fan size

I need to replace a socket A CPU fan. It measures slightly less than
2 in between holes.
Would this be a standard 50mm fan?

Let's see...1 inch = 2.54 cm. That would make this a 50-mm fan.

Each socket has its own fans like AMD socket A has a special fan and
Intel has a different type of fan and not only must the fan fit the
socket but it must be rated for the speed of the processor as some
socket A for instance might have more than one fan that fits but it must
also be rated for correct processor speed. The newer motherboards have
different systems for attaching fans than the holes that you fit metal
clips into which were always scary because of fear of slipping and
marring the motherboard.
