I have an HP 5600 printer. The USBInfo program recognizes it as a USB2
device, but shows it connected to a USB1 hub in my Dell Desktop. How
do I get it moved to the USB2 hub? I have tried disconnecting both
power and USB cable.
Could it be the cable?

USB1 or USB2 will depend on the connector. IOW, if
- Your system has USB2 *but* the device is USB1 then the speed will be USB1
speed
- If your system has USB1 and device is USB2 then the speed will be USB1
speed.
- If the system has USB2 and device is USB2 then you will have USB2 speed.

The Dimension 8300 apparently does have USB2 on board.
I would be surprised if it were the cable, but I suppose that's an easy
thing to try.
If you look under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in your Device
Manager, do you see an entry for an *enhanced* controller? (The exact
entry text can vary.)

Do you have the device plugged into a USB hub or direct to your DELL? If it
goes into a USB hub, then that hub is connected to the DELL, then you
probably have a USB1 Hub!
