Default temperature 27*10^9 °C on a Hitachi IC25N060ATMR04-0 according to the smart-info

Hi,
I've got an Hitachi IC25N060ATMR04-0

According to the S.M.A.R.T. information the temperature of my harddisk
is either 274878693425°C or 98°C.

The smart info is:
194 Drive Temperature
treshold 0
worst 112
value 112
raw-value 274878693425
..

According to the german wikipedia article the current temperatur is
either the raw-value in °C or (220-112)+10=98 in °C.
Both seems to me to be very high. ... and it's not the same value!

Can someone tell me how to calculate the correct temperature.

Apropos: The fan is running all the time. Even while I'm in BIOS. How
does the BIOS get the temperature information? I'm using an ACER
Aspire 1610. Could it be that the BIOS asks the harddisk and it's
giving a wrong value back?

Many thanks,
Jack

put your hand on it. If keeping it there causes pain, its above 60C.

People put a puzzling amount of reliance on what are often
meaningless readings.

I suspect the software is not reporting the temperature correctly as
274878693425°C is a little hot for a hard disk. They normally top off around
the million degrees mark and rarely go above sun core temperature.

Perhaps the OP was running a nuclear fusion sim, but the program
didnt realise it was only meant to be simming it
