Default Motherboard upgrade

I am thinking of upgrading my computers motherboad and chip from 2.4GHz and
1Gb of DDR.
I need at least 2 IDE slots to control my drives 2HD and 1CD and 1DVD .
Is a new ASROCK the way to go and what chip is a good value CPU that will
run faster than what I have?
I think I will need a new vido card as well.

Default Re: Motherboard upgrade

My recent upgrade involved a ASUS P5NSLI
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...11&modelmenu=1
pretty decent motherboard, PCI-E for GFX, a few PCI's for exsisting cards,
IDE and Sata, Quad Core Compatible and Dual SLI Compatible....

Also ventured for a Geforce 8600GTS
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...43&modelmenu=1

Chip wise I did a Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...duo-e6420.html

and did 2x 1gb mem DDR2 667MHz/PC2-5300

In the UK this cost me just over £350, but that was about 6 months ago,
probably get it cheaper now, but I dunno what the prices are over there in
AUS....
