Also,if you have an LCD monitor, try to get an old fashioned
CRT monitor, you can get those almost free, and they
can be turned all the way down.

Video driver setting or wear sunglasses. The sunglasses
are the more universal solution since brightness exists in
other areas of life besides a monitor.
