Default I installed a new SATA hdd TIA

I installed a new SATA hdd some time ago & it was fine. Then I had
reason to format my active hdd & when I had all up and running again
my SATA was stalling (freezing temporarily) slow in every action...and
I mean SLOW! I noticed it first when I was shifting data from c:\
drive (to be formatted). I was moving music files (loads) to the d:\
(SATA) drive. It took hours. Are there drivers for SATA hdd's? There
was no problem with the pc recognising the SATA drive. Any help/hints
very welcome. :-)

After installing your SATA drive (initially) you probably also
installed some driver stuff. (Motherboard setup CD ?)
Did you reinstall those drivers after formatting your disk?

Yes, I do that one first. Chipset and all. Then the nVidia cd. I have
two SATA outlets on my m'board & have tried both. No difference at
all.

Well, just asking :-)
No change either that your Windows CD is SP1 and you haven't yet
installed SP2 either, I suppose ?
