I need to replace/repair the power connector but can't figure out how to
open the case (with screws removed). Any hints would be appreciated.

A couple of the graphics are missing, but you might be able to muddle
through it--assuming that this laptop matches your own:

I don't know about yours, but laptops are normally secured with snaps,
then the screws keep it together. So, after you remove the screws, and
keep really good track of which ones go where, you have to unsnap the
plastic parts. Look for somewhere you can start prying and try to see
how the snaps work to see if a certain tool might work better.
Be really careful and try not to break any of the snaps. If something
won't move the way you think it should, there may be another screw you
have not yet removed. Normally the keyboard is one of the first things
to remove, and make sure to take out the battery or batteries.

.... as might taking off the plastic cover above the
keyboard, taking keyboard out, and while gently prying with
the thin tool, using plastic shims (similar to credit cards)
to keep areas spread while working around the perimeter.
Thanks for all your replys. Unfortunately the references to the Model 9300
don't appear to be of much help -- the 1150 appears to be quite a bit
different. Maybe I'll try prying again and see what happens. It's my
eldest son's old laptop and he gave up in disgust trying to figure out how
to open it and passed it to me to give it a try.
