Default Gateway BIOS key?

My friend has a Gateway that won't let him into the BIOS. He has
tried several keys to do so, but nothing works, he says.

Anyone suggest how you get into Gateway BIOS?

Thanks

It is far easier to just do a Google search for yourself instead of asking
in a newsgroup. If you believe Gateway's support people then:

There is normally a way of resetting the bios password (and quite possibly
all the bios settings) using a jumper on the motherboard. If you identify
the motherboard and then google for it then you should be able to find
instructions for what to do.

However, Johns suggestion is probably the simplest - I'm sure that gateway
will have only used a small set of common passwords so google may well turn
it up.

It might be password protected. That is becoming a more common problem now
that we are into a second and third generation of laptops and old laptops
are being sold without the password removed. If it is, it should ask for
the p/w when trying to enter the BIOS. If this is the case, repost and I'll
give you a helpful link for that conundrum. JG
