Default Extension "eml"

Every so often I get an email attachment with the extensiom 'eml' such as
pictures.eml. For some reason when I open it, the pictures do not come out.

What type of extension is this?

XP, P4, using Outlook as my mail client.

Meerkat......thanks, extremely grateful for the answer. Filext.com is a
super resource and I now have it on my favorites.

As filext stated, Outlook must have stripped out everything but the text in
the email. Good thing it did. It was an email from a friend who says his
email client did not block out the pictures. I will refer him to filext
just so he knows.

Regards,
