DUAL BOOT FROM USB PENDRIVE - WINXP & NORTON GHOST 8.0

Greetings All

I'm wandering, whether we can use the pen drive to boot and install
winxp which is copied to one partition and also given to choose to
boot for Norton Ghost copied in another partition on the pen drive. If
this can be done, then it would make my technical live solving
maintenance problem on several pc's with one pen drive, instead of
carrying too many cd's and inserting them one after another.

Can any expert advice on this matter. Thank you in advance. Pls repy

You should put both on the same single partition on the
pendrive, that will make it the most compatible. Make the
pendrive partition FAT16 meaning a 2GB limit as this too
makes it most compatible but even then some older systems
(even some not so old) may not be able to boot a USB flash
disk even if they are supposedly capable. You may also need
to fiddle with bios settings to enable booting it, to tell
the bios what emulation mode to use, and to make it the
priority boot device.

People on usenet don't generally reply via email, always be
sure to check back at the newsgroup for replies.

All you need to do is make the drive DOS bootable, using
various utilities available either with the drive, from the
manufacturer's website or other 3rd party utilities like the
infamous HP utility... the following link should find it in

After it's bootable make a couple folders, one for Ghost and
one for XP. Copy the Ghost dos files to the former and the
contents of the XP CD to the latter.

Some people prefer to make a thumbdrive that can boot a mini
windows environment, Google search for "Bart's PE" for more
details.
