Compaq DeskPro EP Services 6400/10 and Disk Controller Failure

I currently have a couple of these systems from Compaq and a few of
them are saying Disk Controller Failure, sometimes even when their is
no Hard Drive hooked up. It's error 1782.

Usually, after taking 9 years to boot, it usually eventually goes to
the hard drive, and I tested the hard drive in another machine, and it
has no problems what so ever.

I tried updating the BIOS but it was a nightmare trying to figure out
what HP wants me to do.

Anyone have any of these systems and know what to do?
