I have only been on this site a matter of days, and already I have been helped with my son's computer, but now I have a question for me. I noticed an ad for Driver Genius, and thnking it might be time to update drivers or whatever, I downloaded this software, and installed it. It scanned my drivers and found several that needed updating, but I couldn't determine how much the program cost or if it was a subscription service or what, so I decided not install it right away. After that I have no audio, and I was infected with a ton of Trojans, that took me all of 3 days to eliminate, but I still have no audio. System says the driver is okay and working, and it was working fine before that, so I am looking for a little guidance on how to proceed. It's an HP Pavilion xt953 upgraed to XP with an intel(r) 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First just check to see if audio is set to "mute", if so, uncheck the box.
Otherwise:
Try uninstalling your sound card
reboot, then let windows re-install
and of course I'm sure you will stay away from scams in the future!
