Is that a reasonable price for a piece of kit like this though?

It was given to me and I want to ebay it and I have it on buy it now for
that sort of price but I haven't a clue if it is a realistic price. Play are
sometimes extremely competative and other times, way over priced.

I don't know much as this type of kit but from what I have seen I can find
similar products from other manufacturers for £35 ish but I don't know if
this has any special features that set it apart from other offerings.

Is it a desirable item at the moment or old news?

Thanks

Pete

There are a couple boxes here, one at $95 US and one at $111. So perhaps
£50 is about right. In terms of specs, the box is pretty complete,
and would solve most of your networking problems, if ADSL was available
in your area. What I see missing perhaps, is WPA or WPA2 for security
on the wireless part. WEP is a bit weaker.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...rchInDesc=adsl

The security standards are compared here. The second article claims
WEP can be cracked in about 1 minute, but I'd want to find an
independent assessment of that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WPA2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wired_Equivalent_Privacy

I notice when I look in local stores here, that there are fewer and
fewer wired routers, and more wireless. But I happen to like wired
routers. So the lack of WPA on that thing wouldn't bother me,
because I'd be disabling the wireless anyway. But I know, based
on how popular wireless is, that the majority of people reading
this, would likely want a fully usable wireless feature set.

So how popular is wireless in the UK, and how sensitive are
potential customers to security issues ? Those would be
questions I'd ask myself, when trying to pick a price.

Then all that remains, is "charging what the market will bear" :-)

Good luck,
Paul

For god's sake just sod off! What an *** to take up our time
trying to get the best ebay price when you could just search
ebay for what equivalent products were selling for!

No, it can't be a reasonable price as we can get a dd-wrt
firmware modible router for $35 USD delivered, which is
worth at least $15 more than a non-dd-wrt-modible variant

So at max the unit was worth $20 USB, delivered when NEW.
Used, it's hardly worth the shipping charge.

if you dont' care about what it's worth, only about what an
ebay bidding frenzy might fetch, then again you are an ass
to post here instead of just researching what equivalent
models fetch on ebay.

If you continue this behavior I PROMISE you I will have your
ISP cancel your account and have ebay cancel your auctions.
This is an unacceptible use of usenet, and no amount of
whining on your part will help you. There is no defense
that will save you against complaints! Do not waste our
time trying to maximize your ebay profits! What a
slimebag!

Thank you very much for your time Paul.

It's a shame everyone you meet on the internet can't be as pleasant; I guess
some people have issues.

Why should we be pleasant when all you care about is trying
to take more ebay profit than you deserve?

Either make the effort to do the research yourself without
burdening others, or fvck off you whiny little prick.
