So with a fresh install of windows xp sp2, grapics driver (xfx)
chipset driver, lan driver and drivers for either of my external sound
cards (1394) , after a few minutes of just navigating through folders
or surfing the net I loose sound. I have also updated the bios to the
latest version.
If I restart the computer, I get sound back but it just does the same
thing all over. If I cycle the power on either external sound card
while in windows I sometime will get sound back, but it will vanish
soon after. I have experimented with both sound devices and
regardless if one or both are connected the error is the same. I have
also tried just one sound source with only one set of drivers on a new
install of windows with the same results. I've basically tried every
basic thing I could think of.
And I've disabled the onboard sound in the bios...before installing
windows.
