Need Help to install FDISK from a drive subject to En Case
I Have only a floppy disk drive, can't format internal drive whith
FDISK, this is a old Panisonic CF-25, got a external CD-RW drive can't
install the driver because can't fun FDISK to boot up, any ideas
Re: Need Help to install FDISK from a drive subject to En Case
Go to www.bootdisk.com and download one of the Windows 98/ME files to make your
own bootable floppy diskette. From it, you can run FDISK to set up a hard
drive partition, then FORMAT to format the drive. After that, install whatever
software, altho all versions Windows 98 and later require booting from a CD-ROM
drive. Well, not quite. Worst case, you can boot from the same bootable
floppy, switch to the external CD-ROM drive (assuming that DOS recognizes it)
and run setup.exe, the Windows setup program... Ben Myers

Thats the problem there is no DOS to install the external CD-RW
driver, I followed:
can't install to a DOS directory because it don't exist, there is a
Manual Installation, but the CONFIG.SYS & AUTOEXEC.BAT files wont
responed have tryed all the WINx boot disk from the above mentioned
site same problem, there is a Docking port on the bottom of the unit,
I have a USB flash interface but I can't fine the spec's on the
Docking port to build or order a adapter, know where to download a
basic MS DOS 3.1 to install from a floppy disks that would work .

Re: Need Help to install FDISK from a drive subject to En Case
To do what you want to do, namely install Windows from a CD-ROM attached to a
IDE-PCMCIA adapter, requires that you make up a special DOS boot diskette. There
are DOS-based PCMCIA drivers available out there somewhere on the internet. You
would probably have to set up CONFIG.SYS to load a general PCMCIA driver and a
specific PCMCIA CD-ROM driver. Possibly there is one driver that does it all.
Anything further in terms of research and how-tos is beyond the scope of a
newsgroup response. You may be able to scare up the details of how to do this
with old friend Google... Ben Myers
