Copy just the movie. Plenty of ways to that... The more adventuresome folk
might be able to hack the firmware to overcome PGC limitations on the disc.
Some DVD players do ignore instructions like my no-brand Chinese player. The
Next button always works - quite good at $39
I know it works on copies... but I'm looking for the quick way to skip the
stuff when watching a rental

Press the TITLE or the ROOT MENU button. That will
usually skip all the beginning crap and go to the movie
menu immediately.

Not if the authoring process has blocked access until the first warning
messages have played in full . If you are copying a disc you can use a
program like PgcEdit to suppress those commands. The only solution for the
OP is to either copy or find a DVD player that deliberately circumvents PGC
commands in firmware and then such a player may have other shortcomings - I
was lucky I picked up an el cheapo Chinese unit at Haymarket , Sydney that
simply ignores pgc commands and you can always go direct to the menu and
even then skip forward but for the life of me I don't know who made the
thing - it had a peel off label brand name called "Beautiful Bluebird"
!!!!!!!
