I am back to copying some old VHS tapes to the PC
using the TV card and WinFAST software. Kinda dithering
over the Coax vs RCA-jack (S3??)video connection, and
whether to set the "quality" setting to DVD or MPEG-2.
The coax SEEMS to give a little better quality but
not all that clear.

Take a look into DVD recorder. Should be good if you don't have any
copyrighted tapes to copy to DVD. From there you can use the PC to
rip the video, author it with menu and more, and make good looking
DVD.

I do mine to MPEG2 and then use Womble to edit - then author a DVD but I
doubt if you would notice any difference in quality between using 'DVD or
MPEG' setting based on the source material
