Default XBox360 and DVDs...

Got the kids Rock Band for Christmas - it worked fine for a few hours
when they put it in again. The machine made a racket and spit out the
disc - now with scratch marks in a circular pattern about three
quarters of the way in. I tried buffing them out, with no success.

I know the store is not likely to take the disc back, but even if I
were willing to purchase another, it won't be available for weeks.

I found the "files" in a binaries NG. If I download them (70 Rars,
each about 100 megs) might I be able to burn a copy of this **** game
using either Nero or DVD Shrink? Something else? What type of disc
should I try to burn it as? Not a standard DVD, I assume.

Thanks for any help.

E.

The scratching thing is a known flaw in xbox 360s. I am wondering if
you could claim against this. you could try asking in one of the xbox
newsgroups.

I can't help re the burning thing as I would assume only a chipped
machine would play a burned disc. I may be wrong again, you could also
ask about that in the xbox groups.

As for the scratches there are a few things you can try and one I have
used is metal polish (brasso?) on a very soft cloth. as the scratch is
circular just keep running the cloth round the scratched area with a
bit of pressure. I have seen others mention things like a hot water
cure, again they may be able to help you in a regular xbox group.

Ace Hardware has Plastic Rouge for buffing out scratches:

Good luck!
