Default What is a 'DVD Directory'?

I am still having trouble making the darned DVD disk. Now I keep
failing trying to run a disk I created with a failure message:

Unable to find DVD directory

I find nothing on the subject 'DVD directory' on Google.

Anyone know what it is, and its function?

Thanks

Gecko

You are not giving much info. All files must be in a folder called
VIDEO_TS. All authoring programs that I know of automatically create
it.

The disk should contain some .INF files which
are the "directory".

What DVD player gives you the message and what
burning s/w are you using?

No, the disk should contain VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders, which are
the directories. The .INF files are - hang on to your hat - files!

:-) ok, Gene, you're right, but DVD 'players' do not access the disk
directory the way the PC / MAC does.

I'm sure that my memory is amiss, isn't the file extension IFO?
And, if one takes a look inside an IFO file with a program like
IFOedit, one would see that the file name access must be similar
to PC / MAC as that's how the IFO "directory" to the VTS files
in the VIDEO_TS folder refers to them. In fact, unlike CD
music - which definitely does not have a similar file hierarchy,
none of the home-user OS' need do anything special to portray a
DVD file structure. It's identical to the one in use.
