Are Sony AccuCORE DVD-R discs good quality for ImgBurn?
Did I buy the right discs (Sony AccuCORE)?
I just bought 100 Sony DVD -R blanks (100DMR47LS4) for $39.99 + tax.
I picked them because it says "Archival Reliability" on the package.
I assumed that meant they were good disc.
But:
Q1: Why is IMGBURN burning at 1x when the disks say 16x on the package?
Q2: Did I get "good" discs (they say "DVD-R Version 6.0" on the package)?
Q3: What is this Sony "AccuCORE" so highly touted on the package?

One solution could be to update the firmware on your burner

Always try to buy Taiyo Yuden manufactured disks (made in Japan). They're
harder to come by in retail stores these days. Sony and Fuji used to sell
them under their brand names. These days you have to order them via the
net.
Search around and see which are the most reliable online retailers.
If you can't buy them, Verbatims are a good alternative (MCC004 media
code).

I don't know why IMGBURN is burning at 1x. But I wouldn't burn archival
media at 16x. See for example, <cdrfaq.org/faq03.html#S3-31>.

You have to set the burn speed in Imgburn. Look at the screen.
>Q2: Did I get "good" discs (they say "DVD-R Version 6.0" on the package)?
They're fine. Not the best, but good enough.
>Q3: What is this Sony "AccuCORE" so highly touted on the package?
Marketing. There's nothing special about them.

Would you buy anything from Sony and trust there's nothing hidden on it
after their rootkit debacle.

Actually if you go to the Sony site there are specs on the AccuCORE
disks - indicating they are more scratch resistant and probably
longer lived.
I've seen them rated along with other top brands such a
Taiyo-Yuden.
