Samsung HD DVD Upconverter to Samsung HD LCD Television issues
Hey guys. I need some help. I have a Samsung HD LCD TV and I
recently purchased a Samsung DVD Player with a HD Upconverter and I
connected it using an HDMI cable. My issues is that when I play DVD's
they paus a lot (picture not distorted but paused) and the sound is
not coming in in DTS or Dolby Digital as my Receiver should be doing.
The store told me to connect the DVD player via the HDMI cable to the
TV and then connect the Optical Output from the DVD player to my AV
Receiver. I did all of this and still having issues. Anyone have or
having the same issues or know what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same combo and it works excellently - HDMI from DVD
player to LCD, optical out from DVD player to AV - Sony 6.1 100 watts per
channel. Have you set up the audio correctly in the DVD menu - the defaults
were mpeg down here in Oz so I had to change them. If it's still under
warranty take the player back and do a swap.
