Default Ripping problem.

I rip movies with DVD-decrypter.

Most of the time this works very well indeed,
and I successfully burn the result using
Nero8 "Recode".

However when I settle down at home to watch
the result, a few movies just stop in
mid-play and cannot be induced to continue.

Is this some form of pirate-proofing? How
can I work around this?

Please help me,
Peter.

When I (not often) rip a dvd with decrypter it burns it using nero, I
don't have to move it across to nero to do it. what does 'recode' do?
If it is supposed to remove the anti-pirating stuff then dvd-decrypter
would already have done that.

DVD-Decrypter works only some of the time.
The more recent DVDs seem to have a file that
stops it in its tracks.

Therefore I have to
use different rippers on these, such as
MagicDVD ripper which seems to rip to a
single video file that than then be
transferred to a blank DVD via Nero8 Vision.

Otherwise I can use the incomplete set of
files ripped by DVD-Decrypter, or
DVD-FabDecrypter and add these one at a time
to Nero8 Vision.

The quality of the result
is almost as good as a successful normal rip.
Also with this method one can choose selected
extras on the origainal DVD and add these to
the movie.

I am still learning about this,
and my method seems to stop the annoying
result when the copy just stops dead in its
tracks in midplay. So I keep several
rippers on the computer just in case.

With
recent releases that have to be returned to
the store within 24hrs, I concentrate on
getting all the files on to the HDD so that I
can burn them at leisure.

oh well, at least you're having some success. Often these things are
trial and error.

DVD Decrypter is old, old, old, and won't work with many of the newer
copy protection schemes. Copy protection schemes are always evolving.

Use DVDFab HD Decrypter http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm (it's free) to
rip the DVD to hard disc, then process the unprotected files as you
wish.

Also, keep up with the updates to DVDFab HD Decrypter. Copy protection
schemes are always changing, and the program is updated frequently to
deal with new schemes.
