Default recording from a DVR

Would like to copy recorded programs from my DVR to a DVD recorder.

Also, record some VHS tapes to DVD's.

I have seen some stand alone units with built in tuners and some without
tuners. Not sure if I need a tuner with the unit if my recording is done on
DVR, am I losing some features by doing this?

Also would like the unit of course to play DVD's and CD's on TV and sound
system.

Is this understandable?

tks all

without tuners? sounds like a player rather than a recorder. Of course
if you choose one without a tuner you won't be able to record from tv
stations except through your DVR.

anyway. depending on your country of origin there will be connections
on the rear and probably front panel of a dvd recorder for recording
from external sources. obviously they differ and some have more than
others. generally there will be one or two inputs excluding the tuner,
usually known as AV inputs. you just connect the output from the
equipment you wish to record from and the input on the dvd, then set
the recorder to that input to record from it. So
say, you choose AV1 for your leads to go in, then you set the recorder
to av1 and do your recording. Be aware that VHS movies etc may carry
protection to stop you recording them.
