Default How to get my old DVHS recordings onto DVD

>From 1998-2002 I recorded about 100 boxing events on DVHS using a
Hughes HDR-205 and a Hughes E-45 reciever.

This unit worked by recording the DirecTV bitstream and when playing
it back sending the stream back throught the DirecTV reciever through
a firewire connection on the back of both units.

My HDR-205 is now dead. Can I use another brand of DVHS player to play
my old tapes by connecting the unit to my Hughes receiver?

In other words, is the format recorded by my old HDR-205 readable by
other machines and can they send the date via firewire link to my
reciever so I can get these tapes onto DVD?

Thanks
Bobby
