Default forgive my ignorance but HD-DVD Blu Ray MPEG2 ?

So, Blu Ray won, and HD-DVD lost.

Uh Oh, I have an HD DVD Camcorder.

But wait, it just outputs to MPEG2, right?

Is there a DVD player that takes MPEG2 and then send it via HDMI to my TV at
1080i? Forget the fact that my TV only has DVI and no HDMI, but, c'mon,
that's an easy one, right?

I have around 3 groups that I am subscribing to on Usenet, this one seemed
the most appropriate to post in. Forgive my grammar, if you are an English
teacher.

Came back from big box store, suggested any Hi-Def or Blu-Ray player should
work.

If the camcorder is really "HD-DVD", then I can't imagine its discs
would play on a BluRay-only device.

Why not take a recorded and finalized DVD to a store and ask them to
let you try it on a DVD player, an HD-DVD player, a BluRay player, and
a combo HD+BluRay player?

I guess I could, but with all the fussing and mussing trying to get my *old*
Mini DV onto blanks and see that easily understood MPEG2 file vs "other junk
I don't know", was just excited to share.

I spoke to Sony before (the maker of both my HD-TV and HD-Camcorder) and
they might be able to talk me thru it.

Cheers
