DVDFAB makes perfect copies on RW discs, but the discs are then invisible to the PC!
Hi all,
after all the praises for DVDFAB I got version 3.1.7.6 to try. I found
exactly
what I wrote in the subject line:
DVDFAB makes perfect copies on RW discs, but the discs are then invisible to
the PC!
The copies play well in stand alone players, with all menu features working.
But if I then
want to erase the discs for re-use the PC cannot see the discs. I get
repeated messages
such as:
"Insert disc" or "No media present" or "D:\ is not accessable. Incorrect
function."
This is a problem in the burner part of the software, as this happens even
when
burning VIDEO_TS folders originally created from live TV programs and
produced
with Nero or DVDLab.
Normal DVD blanks can be read both in stand alone players AND in the PC.
I send an email to DVDFab support and received back a nonspecific email
telling me to go to DVDHelp or CDFreaks.
NB. I downloaded their latest Beta version as well, but that is the same.
Is there some copyright reason for the locking of RWs they don't want to
admit?
AND does anybody have a suggestion as to how these discs can be unlocked?
DVDFab allows Data files to be copied automatically together with Video
files.
This makes it very easy to use. I believe Nero has some ability to do that
as well, but I haven't found out how.

does it happen with every single disc you attempt to clone?
I've had a few DVD discs i bought recently that would not boot up or
show on a PC at all, worked fine if a regular DVD player.

As I wrote:
This is a problem in the burner part of the software, as this happens even
when burning VIDEO_TS folders originally created from live TV programs and

video files makes no difference.
It happens to all brands of DVD +/-RW discs. It looks a bit like DVDFab
changes basic info on the DVD.
The problem is definitely in the DVDFab burning software.
And the result is, that a $1.20 DVD-RW blank suddenly is only 30 cents
worth.
The discs behave in the PC exactly like an empty DVD+/-R.
