Default Copy recorded programme from Sky+ to DVD

Hi
I have recorded some programmes on the Sky+ box for my daughter and
she wants me to put them on disc for her. I haven't done this before,
but I noticed there is a copy programme function in Sky+ and from that
it says it can copy to VCR

Well, we don't have\use VCR any more, only DVD
So I was wanting to copy\send the recorded Sky programmes to a DVD
recorder.

If this is this possible, has anyone done this successfully and can
tell me what to do and watch out for please?

All are connected to the TV by scart leads if that helps

ah, I didn't know you already has a dvd recorder. Oh well, yes, it is
easy to record from sky+ to the dvd recorder if it is wired up
properly. though you will have to do it in real time. If the sky is
wired to go directly into the input on the dvd recorder then you
simply make sure the recorder is switched to the right input for it
and play the sky+ recording, press record on the dvd recorder, and
that's it.

The copy command actually helps string a few programs together, you
just select which ones you want to copy and the sky+ box will play
them all back while you record them. The problem is you get all the
crap before and after the programs and if I remember right you also
get a bit of menu system popping up during the recording. Also if you
touch any button on the sky remote it will stop the playback.

Really it is best to stick to one at a time, ignore the copy command.
I do this often, without any real problems at all.

Hi Paul
Can you explain with reference as to what will identify the scart
leads\plugs for my wife (I'm in a wheelchair) for her to put the TV
out scart from the sky box into the in scart socket on the dvd
recorder, then the other scart from the recorder goes to the TV's
main input."

She is worried that she get it wrong & will muck up Sky

Paul
By identify I mean top\bottom - left\right
And any symbols\terms on the casing where the scart plugs into that
she can relate to

Hi Martin. I am hoping that if she looks on the rear of the sky box it
will say TVout next to the correct scart. On the recorder it would
hopefully say something like in/sat/cable those are the two which
should connect the sky box to the recorder. then the second scart from
the recorder should be marked TV/out or such and that will be the
scart which goes to the television. You can then put the other sky
scart to your tv's other scart socket.

I am not too great at remembering exactly which socket is which on the
sky boxes but hopefully they will be marked clearly. The reason for
using the TV out scart on the sky box is it outputs in RGB, which is
the best quality to use for digital recording.

I have found a diagram which will hopefully give you some idea of what
to look for on the sky box

http://www.skytvcard.com/backskyplusn.JPG

On that one it appears the correct output is the top scart socket.

Far as I recall they are usable straight away. Easiest thing to do is
just put one in the deck and if it needs anything doing to it the
machine will tell you.
