Audio Problem with a new Sony HDD DVD recorder

Hi,
I have just bought a new Sony HDD DVD recorder (model HX525)and am having
problems with tha audio.

When watching a terrestial channel through the recorder everything is ok,
but when I turn on the satellite I get both the sound from the tv programme
I am watching and the sound of the satellite channel.
If I change the DVD's input to the satellite and watch the satallite
programe the audio has an echo on it.

This does not happen when I record a programme, the sound is fine.

I have connected it up using scart leads, and have followed the instuctions
in the book.

Any help would be gratefully received.
