Default WinDVD keeps crashing

I have a new Dell computer. I just bought WinDVD and install it. If I
open it up, it stays open. But once I put a DVD in, the software
crashes. The WinDVD I bought IS for Dell computers too. It's brand
new, not a bootleg and I for the life of me cannot figure what the
hell is wrong. I've tried numerous DVDs and once the DVD loads, the
software crashes. What could be wrong?

Thanks for any assistance.
