Default Video Capture

Hi,
I recently got hold of a Tv tuner with a capture interface. It has a
Composite video -in port. What I want to do is to transfer all my old
VHS's over onto my PC then upload or burn them. Anyway I got all the
cables and adaptors and it all works. But to test it I was using Movie
Maker capture interface, but its not that great and it saves in WMV.
My video editing software has the capture feature but it too memory
intensive. So I was wondering if anyone knew of some good, just
capture software which I could use, It needs to be able to encode in
DivX or MP4 or in an MPEG format.

Thanks
