I have 3 non-copy-protected movies on a DVD labeled 4.7GB/120 min. I
think I recorded them in enhanced (?) mode to be able to record 240
minutes. I think the movies are approximately 1.5, 1.5 and 1 hour(s)
long, respectively.
Viewing the DVD in WinXP/SP2 Windows Explorer, I see the following
This DVD plays fine (providing a menu listing the three movies
allowing the selection of any one the three movies):
- in my DVR connected to my TV
- in my computer's TDK DVDRW0404N drive using:
--- with Nero Showtime
--- with Windows Media Player 11.
I have a second DVD similarly encoded with a couple of movies. I'd
like to copy one particular movie from each of these DVDs to my hard
drive and then copy the two of them to a new DVD in enhanced (i.e. 4-
hour) mode with a menu so that in future play-backs I select one or
the other.
I just got Nero 7 with Nero Burning ROM, Express, Vision, etc. as the
tool which I hope will allow me to accomplish this task. Can anybody
give me some idea about which Nero tools/options I should use? Or is
there a better way?

Thanks Sandy. I just need some high-level pointers (or appropriate
URLs) to get this going.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for those links. They've got stuff/software I'm interested
in. Right now I'm trying to get some initial direction on using Nero
7 to copy a couple of movies from two DVDs to my hard-drive and then
copy/burn those two movies on a new DVD.
Nero 7 is a collection of disparate applications which lacks
centralized documentation. Furthermore, the documentation on the
individual applications leaves something to be desired.
I was hoping some Nero 7 user would respond with a simple pointer like
(1) Hey, use app. xxx, or (2) go to yyy.com for a write-up on using
Nero 7 for that task.

Most Nero7 postings seem to be about how Nero6
worked for them but Nero7 won't. For many of us
Nero Burning ROM is the only valid program in the
bundle (the Nero Info tool, and Wav Editor, are useful
too), the video programs want to force things to conform
to their approach and use their codec - even if provided
perfectly valid inputs.
If you only want to use Nero video programs you should
try and find a Nero forum. You may find a link to one at
the company's web site.
By the way I did provide
(1) Hey, use www.VideoReDo.com "VideoReDo TVSuite"
and (2) go to sites that have write-ups on how to Author and
Re-Author DVDs.

Hi Ken,

It took my a week, but I finally did get something useful from Nero:
the tutorial "Photo and Video - step by step" from http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero...oto-video.html
The tutorial explains each option in Nero Start Smart for Photo and
Video step by step.

I found one at http://www.afterdawn.com, but it has a different
challenge: I logon but it acts like I'm not logged on. I emailed
them, and hopefully I get that resolved this month or this year :-)

I want to stick with Nero and get it working. Using the documentation
cited above, I was successful in:
Importing one movie from each of two DVDs into a Nero project, edit
their title names and export them to a new DVD. I got stuck on one
"wrinkle." Nero didn't write them with the same degree of compression
as the original recording I made.
I'm working on that problem now. If I can clear up the logon problem
at AfterDawn.com, then I can post my problem in a Nero forum. My
patience is being tested :-)
