I just installed a Blu-Ray CD-ROM Drive (Sony BDUX10S) and I am trying
to determine if it is working properly. I currently cannot test it by
merely playing a Blu-Ray DVD as the player software I have (PowerDVD
8) requires a better video card than I presently have installed.
On my first restart after installing the drive, Windows XP informed me
that the necessary drivers had been installed and I had to reboot.
After rebooting, I can see the drive letter for the new drive. If I
load a Blu-Ray DVD disc into the drive, the drive's front panel
"activity" LED eventually goes out, which I assume means the drive is
able to initially read the disc properly.
However, if I try to view the disc contents with Windows Explorer, I
get a "No disc in drive" message box. I am wondering if I should
expect to be able to view the disc contents in a form that Windows can
recognize. For instance with a "normal" DVD you can usually see a
"VIDEO_TS" folder on a DVD disc, containing .BUP and .VOB files.
Should I expect to see similar files on a Blu-Ray DVD, or does it
store its data in a form Windows won't recognize?

I may be incorrect, but i was under the impression only Vista could
"read" Blu-Ray data discs. Pardon my confusion.
