Anyone having trouble with Showtime, a component of Nero 7 Home Essentials?
After running the app, even after reboot without having used it, rear
speakers make bad noise through front speakers. I change audio I/O setting
to 2 speakers, then back to 4. Then, sound OK until next boot up.
RealTek, 4 speakers plus subwoofer. The Nero app brings up message that a
multi channel plugin is required to enhance sound. I don't think that would
solve prob - clearly, sound during DVD playback is good for that one
session. Nero tech no help. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Re: DVD player-Nero Showtime-glitches sound system
The RealTek chip shares the mic input with the rear speaker output.
If you are trying to use the mic, you can only use the "quad"
speaker setting in the realtek control panel. The 5.1 surround
setting will cause the problem.

Re: DVD player-Nero Showtime-glitches sound system
Many thanks for your response, glamart. I have MIC volume turned off in
Sound Effects manager, and quad speakers setting in Advanced Audio
Properties (control Panel). The Nero multichannel enhancement offer I
mentioned apparently enables Dolby 5.1, and my speaker arrangement - 4
desktop, 1 subwoffer - probably wouldn't deliver. Guess I have to get a
sound card to replace RealTek on-board sound. Recommend a card?
