Default DVD Idle -- DVDRegionFree+CSS problem

I use DVD Idle (incorporating DVDRegionFree+CSS) to prevent my
computer DVD drives locking into a specific region.
For some reason though, whenever I use some software -- download
previews for instance - a new copy of DVD Idle opens so that after a
while I might have a score of open applications.
Before this just one app, in the background, was running. Is there a
way to stop multiple apps opening?
